An Amazon delivery driver was struck by a passing vehicle in a hit-and-run while delivering packages in west Miami-Dade, an incident captured on surveillance video as the driver exited a delivery truck and entered the roadway.

Witness describes aftermath at the scene

A witness who arrived shortly after the collision described seeing broken packages in the street, the driver’s hat separated from the driver, and the injured worker on the ground with limited movement.

“I was on the way from work and I see the package in the middle of the street broken, her hat in the other side and her laying on the ground not able to move,” the witness said.

The witness also said the injured driver appeared to be moving her hands, possibly using a phone to contact a supervisor or family.

Residents raise concerns about speeding on the roadway

Residents in the area said speeding has been a recurring problem on the stretch of road where the crash occurred. Calls for additional traffic-calming measures, including speed bumps, have been raised by locals, though residents said changes have not been implemented.

Police continued searching for the driver who fled the scene. Authorities have not publicly identified the vehicle involved or announced an arrest in connection with the crash.

Amazon said the driver was recovering at home while receiving care and that the company was cooperating with law enforcement during the investigation. The delivery service partner that employs the driver remains in contact with the employee and is providing support.
