City Bulletin: Official Public Notices and Service Updates for March 5, 2026

Public Meeting Schedule
The City of Miami has several official meetings scheduled for Thursday, March 5, 2026. Residents are encouraged to participate in the local governing process through these public forums. The Downtown Development Authority (DDA) will hold its Quality of Life Meeting at 9:00 a.m. at 201 S. Biscayne Blvd., Suite 2600. Additionally, the Plat and Street Committee is set to convene at 9:30 a.m. at the Miami Riverside Center, located at 444 SW 2nd Avenue, in Conference Room #602 South.
For those in the Miami Beach area, the city is hosting Special Magistrate Hearings at 9:00 a.m. in the City Hall Commission Chambers. This will be followed by a Hybrid Meeting of the Cultural Arts Council at 12:00 p.m. and an Ad Hoc Sanitation Advisory Committee session at 1:00 p.m. These meetings offer a platform for public comment regarding local infrastructure and community programming.
Infrastructure and Development Updates
City officials have announced the successful completion of Section C of the East Flagler Street improvement project. A commemorative event was recently held to celebrate the reopening of this section to both pedestrian and vehicular traffic. This milestone marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to revitalize the downtown corridor, in partnership with the Flagler Business Improvement District and the Miami Downtown Development Authority.
In an effort to streamline residential improvements, the City of Miami has officially launched the “Same Day–No Delay” Walk-Thru Express Review. This new service is designed to accelerate the permitting process for homeowners. Under this program, eligible residential projects can receive same-day plan reviews, providing a faster and more predictable path for residents looking to complete home improvement tasks without the traditional administrative wait times.
Health and Safety Advisories
The National Weather Service has issued a High Rip Current Risk advisory for coastal Miami-Dade County, which remains in effect through Friday evening, March 6, 2026. Official safety guidelines recommend that all swimmers stay near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, individuals are advised to remain calm, float, and swim in a direction following the shoreline rather than against the current. Public safety officials urge residents and visitors to exercise extreme caution at local beaches during this high-impact period.
Community Services and Tax Assistance
The City of Miami is currently offering free tax preparation services through the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program at José Marti Park. This service is available to residents earning up to $69,000 annually. In addition to electronic tax filing, the site provides assistance with Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) claims and FAFSA support for students and families. Residents are advised to bring all necessary financial documentation to take advantage of this no-cost program during the 2026 tax season.
