Public Meeting: Housing and Community Development Draft RFA
Miami-Dade County’s Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) is hosting a South Regional Public Meeting today, Thursday, January 29, 2026. The meeting will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Naranja Branch Library, located at 14850 SW 280th Street.
The session is part of a series of public hearings to review the Draft 2026 Request for Applications (RFA) for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME), and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) funds. Residents are encouraged to attend to provide comments and ask questions regarding the allocation of these federal funds. Written comments are also being accepted through February 6, 2026, to the attention of the HCD Interim Division Director.
Health Advisory: North Shore Water Quality Update
The Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County (DOH-Miami-Dade) has officially lifted the water quality health advisory for the North Shore – 73rd Street location in Miami Beach. Recent testing confirmed that Enterococcus bacteria levels have returned to acceptable state standards established by health guidelines. The previous advisory against swimming and water-related activities at this specific beach location is no longer in effect, and the water is considered safe for recreational use.
Public Service: Senior Rental Assistance Program Reopens
The City of Miami has reopened the application period for the Senior Rental Assistance Program (SRAP). Applications are currently being accepted through Friday, February 20, 2026. This initiative is designed to provide financial relief to low-income seniors struggling with rising housing costs. Eligible residents are encouraged to submit their materials early to ensure timely processing during this limited window.
Infrastructure Alert: I-395 Project Safety Stand-Down
A safety stand-down remains in effect for specific construction operations on the I-395/SR 836/I-95 Design-Build Project. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) continues to pause all formwork operations following a concrete pour incident earlier this month that resulted in worker injuries. While these specific operations are paused for the implementation of a corrective action plan, other work on the signature bridge project continues. Motorists should note that this safety stand-down does not currently impact the standard traffic patterns on the existing bridge structures.
Civic Update: Mayor Higgins at National Conference
City of Miami Mayor Eileen Higgins is currently in Washington, D.C., for the U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) Winter Meeting. From January 28 to 30, 2026, the Mayor is joining municipal leaders from across the nation to advocate for local solutions regarding infrastructure and economic opportunity. City administrative operations remain in full effect under the coordination of the City Manager's office during this period.

- Downtown Development Authority (DDA): The DDA Nominating Committee is scheduled to meet today, January 29, at 9:30 a.m. at the DDA Conference Room located at 200 S. Biscayne Blvd.
- Building Recertification: Property owners are reminded that the 2026 Notice of Required Building Recertification was issued earlier this month. The deadline for completion and submission of these reports is April 7, 2026.
