Dolphins Cancer Challenge cycling routes to cause road delays across Miami-Dade and Broward on Saturday

A major charity cycling event returns Saturday, with riders sharing roads from Miami Beach to Broward’s coastline
Traffic in parts of Miami-Dade and Broward counties is expected to be affected on Saturday, February 28, 2026, as the Dolphins Cancer Challenge (DCC) stages multiple cycling routes linked to a day-long fundraising event anchored at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.
The DCC combines cycling and a run/walk component to raise money for cancer research and patient care at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, part of the University of Miami Health System. Organizers state the initiative directs 100% of participant-raised funds to Sylvester programs and report the campaign has surpassed $100 million raised since the event’s launch in 2010.
Routes and start times: four rides, spanning Miami-Dade and Broward
The largest traffic footprint is expected from the cycling segments, which begin early and extend through late morning. Event materials list four ride options—99 miles, 54 miles, 39 miles, and 13 miles—named for former Dolphins players.
99-mile ride (Jason Taylor): Scheduled to depart at 6:00 a.m. from the Miami International Autodrome at Hard Rock Stadium. The published route runs through South Beach, Sunny Isles, Fort Lauderdale’s Las Olas area, and Lighthouse Point, before returning to the stadium. Organizers indicate riders could be on the course for much of the morning and early afternoon.
54-mile ride (Zach Thomas): Scheduled for an 8:00 a.m. start at the stadium. The route is set to pass through downtown Fort Lauderdale, Fort Lauderdale Beach, and Hugh Taylor Birch State Park, then trace coastal roadways on the return toward Miami Gardens.
39-mile ride (Larry Csonka): Scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. from the University of Miami in Coral Gables rather than the stadium. The route is listed through Coconut Grove and Brickell, then across the Julia Tuttle Causeway to Miami Beach, continuing through Surfside and Bal Harbour, then north through Hallandale Beach before finishing at Hard Rock Stadium.
13-mile ride (Dan Marino): Scheduled for a 10:00 a.m. start at Hard Rock Stadium, looping through Miami Gardens along Miramar Boulevard and continuing into West Park and part of Pembroke Park before returning.
What drivers should expect
With multiple start locations and a mix of long-distance and mid-distance rides, motorists should anticipate intermittent lane restrictions, rolling slowdowns, and brief stoppages at intersections along posted corridors, particularly during the early-morning departures and as riders pass through beach and downtown areas.
Event day is Saturday, February 28, 2026, with the earliest ride rolling out at 6:00 a.m. and additional routes starting through 10:00 a.m.
Run/walk activity stays on-site
The 5K run/walk component is slated to take place entirely within the Miami International Autodrome area at the stadium complex, limiting off-site traffic effects compared with the cycling routes.
Drivers planning travel between Miami Beach, north Miami-Dade, and coastal Broward on Saturday morning may benefit from leaving extra time and considering alternate routes away from the published cycling corridors.
