Four adults and two dogs displaced after early-morning fire damages Miami fourplex units and attic

Early-morning fire prompts evacuation in Little River-area fourplex
Four adults and two dogs were displaced early Wednesday after a fire broke out at a single-story fourplex in Miami, sending smoke through the building and damaging all four units, according to information released by City of Miami Fire-Rescue.
The fire was reported at 2:58 a.m. on February 25, 2026, at 7708 NE First Ave. Fire crews arrived to find smoke coming from the eaves, an indicator that heat and smoke had moved into concealed spaces above the ceilings.
Fire spread into attic space, affecting every unit
Firefighters advanced hose lines to the rear of the structure, where they encountered an exterior fire that had extended into a shared attic space. While officials described the blaze as mainly exterior, the attic involvement created a pathway for smoke and water to travel across the building’s connected ceiling area.
As a result, all four units sustained water and smoke damage. Officials said the fire was brought under control within minutes.
Residents self-evacuated; no injuries reported
All residents were able to self-evacuate. No injuries were reported in the incident. Displacement included four adults and two dogs.
The American Red Cross was contacted to assist those affected, including help related to short-term housing needs and immediate essentials following the loss of access to the units.
Investigation underway into origin and cause
The Miami Fire Investigation Unit is expected to determine the fire’s origin and cause. Officials have not released a suspected ignition source or identified any contributing factors. No estimate of monetary damage was released.
In fourplex and multi-unit properties, an attic shared across units can allow smoke, heat and suppression water to spread beyond the area where a fire first ignites, often expanding the scope of damage and increasing the likelihood of displacement.
