Jannik Sinner breaks Masters 1000 consecutive-sets record with Miami Open third-round victory over Corentin Moutet

Sinner extends streak in Miami as record falls
Jannik Sinner added another entry to the ATP Masters 1000 record book at the Miami Open, advancing to the round of 16 after a straight-sets win over France’s Corentin Moutet. The third-round result continued a run of set-by-set dominance that has stretched across multiple Masters 1000 events and now stands as the longest consecutive-sets-winning streak at this level.
Sinner beat Moutet 6-1, 6-4 in 1 hour and 11 minutes. The win pushed his Masters 1000 streak to 25 consecutive sets won, surpassing the previous benchmark of 24 set by Novak Djokovic in 2016.
Match snapshot: efficient serving, limited openings
Against Moutet, Sinner established control early with a one-sided opening set and maintained it through the second, navigating the match without extended momentum swings. His serving efficiency was central to the outcome: he won 87% of points behind his first serve. On return, he also applied consistent pressure, winning close to half of points against Moutet’s first delivery.
Moutet’s chances to change the match were limited. He created only one break-point opportunity and did not convert it, while Sinner repeatedly forced short rallies and minimized unforced risk as the match progressed.
How the record was built
The streak spans the hard-court Masters 1000 segment of the calendar and includes Sinner’s recent title run at Indian Wells. Earlier in March, he won the Indian Wells Masters without dropping a set, defeating Daniil Medvedev in the final in two tie-break sets. The Miami performance extended that set-perfect sequence and carried it into the second leg of the “Sunshine Double.”
- Miami Open third round: Sinner def. Moutet 6-1, 6-4 (25th straight Masters 1000 set won reached during the match)
- Indian Wells final: Sinner def. Medvedev 7-6, 7-6 (title won without losing a set)
Context: Miami’s Masters 1000 significance
Miami is one of the nine ATP Masters 1000 tournaments and is staged in Miami Gardens, Florida. The 2026 event is scheduled to run from March 17 through March 29, with the men’s singles final set for March 29. Sinner’s progression in Miami keeps him in contention for back-to-back Masters 1000 trophies within the same month, with the tournament now moving into its round-of-16 phase.
With the third-round win, Sinner reached 25 consecutive sets won at Masters 1000 level, a new record in the category.
Sinner’s next match in Miami will come in the round of 16, where the field narrows and each win carries increased ranking points and match-load demands in the closing week of the tournament.
