Major Event Closures in Little Havana

Today, Sunday, March 15, 2026, marks one of the most challenging traffic days of the year for Miami residents and visitors. The annual Calle Ocho Music Festival is taking over Little Havana, resulting in the full closure of Southwest 8th Street from Southwest 12th Avenue to Southwest 27th Avenue. This closure is effective from 11 a.m. until at least 8 p.m., though side street restrictions began earlier this morning. Drivers are urged to use Southwest 1st Street, Southwest 10th Street, or Coral Way as primary east-west alternates.

Adding to the congestion, loanDepot Park is hosting the World Baseball Classic semifinals today. With thousands of fans descending on the area, expect heavy delays on Northwest 7th Street and around the stadium perimeter. Police are stationed at major intersections to assist with flow, but gridlock is highly likely throughout the afternoon.

Spring Break Restrictions on Miami Beach

Miami Beach remains under a high-impact traffic plan for the peak of the Spring Break season. Today is the final day of the current weekend restrictions, which limit vehicle access to Ocean Drive. Motorists may only enter Ocean Drive at 15th Street and must exit at 5th Street. Furthermore, a heavy police presence is conducting license plate reader checks on the MacArthur and Julia Tuttle Causeways. Non-resident parking in South Beach garages is set at a flat rate of $40, and towing fees for illegal parking have been increased to $548.

Public Transit Service Alerts

Miami-Dade Transit is operating on a modified schedule today due to various maintenance projects. Commuters using the Metrorail should prepare for 20-minute frequencies on the Green Line. Single-tracking is currently in effect between the Vizcaya and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. stations. Additionally, Dadeland South remains under single-platform operation for ongoing intermodal station construction.

The Metromover system is also experiencing significant changes. All three loops—the Inner, Omni, and Brickell loops—are currently operating on a single track in the same direction. The Miami Avenue Station is temporarily closed; riders are advised to use the Third Street Station as an alternative. Free bus shuttles are available to bridge gaps in service where necessary.

Overnight Roadworks and Expressway Updates

Looking ahead to tonight, the I-395/SR 836/I-95 Design-Build Project will resume nighttime operations. Starting at 10 p.m., one lane on eastbound I-395 and up to two lanes on westbound I-395 will be closed between I-95 and Biscayne Boulevard. Simultaneously, a full closure of Biscayne Boulevard between Northeast 6th Street and Northeast 13th Street will begin at 10 p.m. for bridge foundation work, with traffic detoured until 7 a.m. Monday morning.
