Metromover and Metrorail Service Modifications Lead Tuesday’s Miami Commute Update

Transit Alerts: Metromover and Metrorail Adjustments
Commuters utilizing Miami-Dade Transit this Tuesday, March 10, 2026, should prepare for significant service modifications affecting both the Metromover and Metrorail systems. These changes are part of ongoing infrastructure upgrades and maintenance intended to improve long-term system reliability.
- Metromover Inner Loop: The Inner Loop continues to operate on a modified track configuration. Trains are currently running on the opposite track, moving in the same direction as the Omni and Brickell loops. Most importantly, the Miami Avenue Station remains closed to Inner Loop passengers. Commuters are advised to use the 3rd Street Station as the nearest alternative.
- Metrorail Service: Single-tracking remains in effect at the Dadeland South Intermodal Station. Due to these station improvements, Green and Orange Line trains are operating on a modified schedule. During peak weekday hours, expect headways of approximately 10 to 12 minutes. During off-peak hours, wait times may extend to 15 to 30 minutes.
- Airport Connection: Travelers heading to Miami International Airport via the Orange Line should account for these delays and be aware that after 8 p.m., a transfer at the Earlington Heights station is required to reach the airport.
Major Roadwork and Lane Closures
Drivers should anticipate delays on several major arteries due to active construction and bridge rehabilitation projects across the county.
- NW South River Drive: Travel lanes in both directions between the northbound SR 826/Palmetto Expressway off-ramp and W 18th Avenue are currently closed. This closure is necessary for bridge demolition work and is expected to continue through March 19, 2026. Daily re-openings occur at 5:30 a.m. after nightly work, but the construction zone remains restricted.
- Biscayne Boulevard (SR 5): Intermittent lane closures are scheduled between NE 61st Street and NE 64th Street. Maintenance and utility work are restricted to the hours of 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to avoid the heaviest peak-hour traffic, though some congestion is still likely in the Upper East Side area.
- I-395/SR 836/I-95 Design-Build Project: The massive reconstruction project continues to impact the downtown interchange. While no full closures are scheduled for the Tuesday morning commute, motorists should watch for shifting lanes and reduced speed limits near the MacArthur Causeway entrance.
Commuter Recommendations
With Metrorail frequencies reduced and major bridge work near the Palmetto Expressway, we recommend that residents leave at least 20 minutes earlier than usual. For those using the Metromover, the closure of the Miami Avenue Station may require a short walk from 3rd Street; please plan your pedestrian route accordingly. Stay alert for updated signage in construction zones to ensure the safety of road crews and fellow drivers.
