Public Transit: Metromover and MetroConnect Changes

Commuters and residents in the Brickell area should prepare for significant changes to the Metromover system this weekend. The Financial District Metromover Station is temporarily closed today, Saturday, February 7, 2026, as crews continue essential system upgrades. During this closure, the Brickell Loop will remain operational; however, all trips will begin and end at the Brickell Metromover Station, bypassing the Financial District entirely. Transit officials recommend allowing at least 15 to 20 minutes of additional travel time for transfers.

Furthermore, this marks the first weekend that the MetroConnect on-demand transit service is officially unavailable. Following service cuts that went into effect on February 1, MetroConnect now operates on a strict weekday-only schedule (Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.). Riders who previously relied on this service for Saturday errands are encouraged to use the Metrobus or Metrorail systems as alternatives. Be advised that fares for MetroConnect have also been adjusted to a $3.75 flat rate for those utilizing it during the coming work week.

Major Arteries and Signature Bridge Construction

The I-395/SR 836/I-95 Design-Build Project continues to impact traffic patterns in the Midtown Interchange. Motorists traveling early this morning may have encountered lane shifts on westbound SR 836 between NW 12 Avenue and NW 17 Avenue. While these specific overnight closures typically lift by 7:00 a.m. on Saturdays, residual equipment moving and ongoing work on the "Signature Bridge" structure may cause intermittent slowing near the MacArthur Causeway throughout the afternoon.

Drivers are also reminded that the speed-zone cameras recently installed outside Miami-Dade schools remain active. While it is a Saturday, many local school facilities host weekend athletic events, and drivers are urged to maintain posted speeds to avoid automatic citations which have surged in volume this year.

Event Traffic: Wynwood and Coral Gables

Expect heavy congestion in the Wynwood Arts District today for the monthly Wynwood Art Walk. Scheduled from 12:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., the event will bring thousands of visitors to the area. Congestion will be heaviest on NW 2nd Avenue and surrounding side streets between NW 20th and NW 29th Streets. Parking will be extremely limited, and rideshare users should expect surge pricing and delays in pick-up times.

In Coral Gables, the Live Like Bella superhero 5K and walk began at 8:00 a.m. this morning. While the primary race route should be clearing by midday, local traffic near the event site may remain sluggish as participants and families depart. Additionally, a travel advisory was issued today, February 7, by a coalition of civil rights groups concerning increased immigration enforcement and traffic stops ahead of the upcoming World Cup matches. Motorists are advised to ensure they have all necessary identification and vehicle documentation ready if stopped by law enforcement.
