Miami-Dade deputies allege Cybertruck driver was drunk and speeding in crash that killed woman

Driver surrenders months after deadly Kendale Lakes collision
Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies say a 21-year-old man turned himself in this week in connection with a fatal crash in the unincorporated Kendale Lakes area that investigators have attributed to excessive speed, alcohol impairment and a red-light violation.
The crash occurred on Dec. 14, 2025, shortly after 8 a.m., at the intersection of Southwest 56th Street and Southwest 122nd Avenue. Investigators say the man was driving a 2025 Tesla Cybertruck westbound on Southwest 56th Street when he entered the intersection against a red traffic signal and struck two vehicles that were turning left with the right of way.
How the crash unfolded, as described by investigators
Deputies say the Cybertruck first sideswiped a Toyota 4Runner and then collided with a Hyundai Sonata. The driver of the Hyundai, identified by authorities as Dayana Abreu Perez, suffered severe injuries and was taken to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital, where she later died.
Investigators state that data obtained from the Cybertruck showed the vehicle was traveling at 97 mph roughly three seconds before impact. The posted speed limit in the area is 40 mph, and deputies say the alleged speed was at least twice the limit as the truck approached the intersection.
Impairment indicators and blood-alcohol results
Deputies wrote that, at the scene, the driver displayed signs consistent with impairment, including the odor of alcohol and bloodshot, watery eyes. Authorities reported that three blood samples were later collected and returned results above Florida’s legal limit of 0.08% blood-alcohol concentration, including a first reported result of 0.18%.
Crash date and time: Dec. 14, 2025, shortly after 8 a.m.
Location: Southwest 56th Street and Southwest 122nd Avenue, Miami-Dade County (unincorporated Kendale Lakes area)
Key investigative claims: red-light violation, high speed, and impairment
Charges, custody status, and court-ordered conditions
The suspect, identified by deputies as Dayron Ramirez-Mesa of southwest Miami-Dade, surrendered on Thursday at the sheriff’s office headquarters in Doral. He was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on charges that include DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide.
As of Friday, authorities said he remained in custody on a $75,000 bond. Court records cited by deputies indicated that if he is released, a judge ordered house arrest and imposed a no-driving condition.
Investigators say the case centers on three elements: alleged intoxication, alleged extreme speed, and the sequence of traffic-signal violations and impacts documented at the intersection.
The investigation remains ongoing as the case proceeds through bond conditions and the court process.
