Incident began with an online connection and a trip from Orlando

Miami police arrested a 34-year-old man after a meeting arranged through Facebook’s dating feature allegedly escalated into an assault and unlawful confinement involving a woman and her 3-year-old daughter.

Investigators say the woman traveled from Orlando to Miami after communicating with the man for roughly two weeks. Police allege he offered to purchase a Brightline train ticket so they could celebrate his birthday. The woman arrived in Miami with her child at about 5:30 p.m. on Friday, February 20, 2026.

Police allege the victim tried to leave and was physically restrained

After arriving, the pair did not go out as the woman expected. Police allege the man bought pizza and brought the woman and her daughter to his apartment on Northeast Bayshore Court. The woman told officers she became uneasy about the apartment’s condition and uncomfortable when the man attempted to kiss her.

When she attempted to leave, police allege the man blocked her exit and restrained her with a “bear hug.” Investigators say she began texting a friend for help, but the man allegedly took her phone and covered her mouth to stop her from screaming.

Police say the woman ultimately escaped into another room with her daughter, locked the door, and contacted her friend, who then called law enforcement.

Officers say they heard calls for help; child’s injuries noted

Officers responding to the apartment reported hearing the woman calling for help from inside. Police say the man was taken into custody after he opened the door.

Authorities documented that the child witnessed the incident and had bruising on both arms, according to the police account summarized in court proceedings.

Charges filed; bond and court-ordered restrictions

The suspect, identified as Saady Mijail Castellanos Triminio, faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, including strong-arm robbery, child neglect, false imprisonment, and battery by strangulation.

  • Bond was set at $17,500.

  • A stay-away order was issued to prohibit contact with the alleged victim.

  • An immigration hold was also placed, based on the court’s order.

Cases involving dating-app meetings often hinge on digital communications, timelines, and corroborating evidence such as injuries, witness accounts, and responding-officer observations.

The case remains in the criminal-justice system, where charges are allegations that must be proven in court.
