Crash and alleged assault reported near a Little Havana intersection

A rideshare trip in Miami’s Little Havana ended in a crash and an arrest after an Uber driver reported she was sexually groped by her passenger while driving, causing her to lose control of the vehicle. The collision occurred just before 2 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2026, near the intersection of Southwest Sixth Avenue and Seventh Street, authorities said.

The driver, who requested anonymity, described the incident as unfolding while she was following changing directions given by the passenger. She said the situation escalated after she turned onto a darker street, when the passenger allegedly covered her mouth and began groping her, leaving visible injuries including bruising and scratches. She said she panicked, lost control, and crashed.

Sequence of impacts and property damage

Police and video from the scene documented significant damage involving at least two vehicles and nearby structures. The driver’s car struck another vehicle, which then hit the wall of a nearby church. The Uber driver’s vehicle continued and crashed into a concrete wall at a storage facility, leaving debris scattered across the roadway.

Cellphone footage from the aftermath showed the driver outside her damaged vehicle, appearing shaken. The same footage captured a man exiting the car and running away from the scene, consistent with the driver’s account that the passenger fled immediately after the crash.

Arrest and charges

City of Miami police said officers responded to the wreck and located a suspect a few blocks away. The man was arrested and identified as Oscar Sanchez Aguire, 26.

He faces charges including battery and culpable negligence resulting in injuries. Jail records and court processing information reviewed by the newsroom indicate he is also being held on an immigration hold. Separate reporting on the case reflected that bond conditions and amounts can be set during initial hearings; immigration holds may affect release even when a bond is posted.

What remains unconfirmed

  • The extent of injuries to all parties involved in the crash had not been publicly detailed in full in initial police summaries.

  • Investigators had not publicly released additional evidence such as dashcam footage, rideshare trip metadata, or a detailed probable-cause narrative beyond the initial allegations and arrest information.

The case combines an alleged in-vehicle sexual assault with a traffic collision, raising parallel investigative tracks: the alleged criminal contact inside the car and the driving-related consequences that followed.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with additional information or video from the area around the time of the crash may be asked to provide it to police as the case proceeds through the court system.
