Surveillance video and 911 call cited in arrest as investigation focuses on alleged domestic-violence dynamics

A Miami salon owner was shot in the leg during a confrontation inside her workplace, and her ex-boyfriend has been arrested and charged, Miami police said.

The shooting occurred inside a beauty-salon suite at My Suite Beauty Square near Northwest Seventh Street and Northwest 37th Avenue. Investigators said surveillance video from inside the business captured the moments leading up to the gunfire, including an apparent argument between the two. The video shows the man pulling a handgun from his pocket, pointing it at the woman’s head, then lowering the weapon and firing, police said.

The victim, identified by police as Nayrelia Ramos, was seen bleeding from her leg and stumbling back toward her suite after the shot. Nearby business owners and clients reacted to the gunfire by seeking cover, according to accounts provided to officers and information released by authorities.

Police said the suspect, Job Jocelyn, 23, fled immediately after the shooting but was later taken into custody. Investigators allege the encounter escalated after Ramos attempted to call for help.

Ramos told investigators she dialed 911 and showed the screen to Jocelyn in an attempt to get him to leave. Police say the shooting happened shortly afterward.

Ramos told officers she had felt harassed and stalked and that the situation intensified after her former partner learned she had entered a new relationship. Police said the argument unfolded inside her business as she tried to get him to leave.

Jocelyn is facing multiple felony counts, including attempted murder. Authorities said he remains jailed without bond.

Prior court restrictions and firearm-related allegations

In addition to attempted murder and aggravated-battery allegations, police said Jocelyn is charged with possessing a firearm in violation of a risk protection order. Records referenced in the arrest documentation indicate he had previously been served with such an order in 2025.

Authorities also noted that a prior domestic-violence investigation involving the former couple had been closed before the shooting. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage, witness statements from inside neighboring suites, and digital evidence tied to communications between the two, police said.

  • Location: My Suite Beauty Square near NW 7th Street and NW 37th Avenue, Miami.

  • Injury: Police said Ramos was shot in the leg and is recovering.

  • Charges: Attempted murder among other counts; firearm possession alleged to violate an existing court order.

The case remains under investigation as detectives continue gathering evidence and prosecutors prepare for initial court proceedings.
