Health Advisory: Mosquito-Borne Illness Alert

The Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County has issued a mosquito-borne illness alert active as of late February 2026. This advisory follows reports of the first locally acquired case of chikungunya in the county this year. Health officials urge residents and visitors to practice "Drain and Cover" protocols to prevent mosquito breeding and protect against bites. This alert is particularly critical as international travel trends have shown an increase in imported cases from the Caribbean region.

This service is available to eligible residents with an annual household income of $69,000 or less. Assistance includes no-cost electronic filing and guidance on the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).
