Public Notice: Cold Weather Advisories, Health Alerts, and Tuesday Meeting Schedules

Official Weather Advisory: Low Temperatures

The City of Miami and Miami-Dade County have issued a cold weather advisory for Tuesday, February 24, 2026. Residents are urged to take precautions as wind chill temperatures are expected to drop into the 30s in inland areas during the early morning hours. High temperatures for the day are forecasted to remain in the low 60s. Officials recommend checking on vulnerable neighbors and ensuring that pets and sensitive plants are protected from the unseasonable chill.

Florida Department of Health: Chikungunya Alert

The Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County has issued a public health advisory following the confirmation of locally acquired chikungunya transmission. This alert follows a significant outbreak in the Caribbean region. Health officials advise all residents to practice the "Drain and Cover" method to prevent mosquito breeding. This includes draining standing water from gutters, pool covers, and birdbaths, and wearing long-sleeved clothing or using EPA-approved insect repellent when outdoors. Travel-associated cases have also seen a sharp increase this month, and those returning from international travel are encouraged to monitor for symptoms such as fever and joint pain.

Community Food Distribution Event

A Farm Share Drive-Thru Food Distribution event is scheduled for Tuesday, February 24, 2026. The distribution will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., or until supplies last. This service is hosted in partnership with the Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections and local municipal leaders to support families in need of fresh produce and shelf-stable goods. Participants are asked to remain in their vehicles as volunteers load groceries into their trunks.
