Official City and County Board Meetings
Today, Monday, March 9, 2026, several key governing boards and committees are scheduled to meet to discuss municipal operations and public projects. Residents are encouraged to attend or submit public comments online where applicable.
- Art in Public Places Board (AIPPB): A regular meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the City Commission Chambers at Miami City Hall (3500 Pan American Drive). Public comment instructions and online forms are available through the city’s legislative hub.
- Miami-Dade County Committees: A series of committee meetings will take place at the Stephen P. Clark Government Center (111 NW First Street). The Policy Council (PC) convenes at 9:00 a.m. to discuss ordinances relating to Miami International Airport operations. This will be followed by the Aviation and Seaport Committee (ASC) at 10:30 a.m. and the Safety and Health Committee (SHC) at 12:30 p.m.
Public Health Advisory: Mosquito-Borne Illness Alert
The Florida Department of Health has confirmed that Miami-Dade County remains under a mosquito-borne illness alert for March 2026. Officials report continued surveillance of Chikungunya, Dengue, and Malaria cases. Residents and visitors are urged to practice "Drain and Cover" protocols: drain standing water from containers and wear long sleeves or insect repellent containing DEET when outdoors to prevent transmission.
Spring Break Operational Measures and Safety
Miami Beach officials have entered the second week of enhanced security and traffic management for the 2026 spring break season. Public service announcements remind visitors and residents of the following active restrictions:
- Parking and Towing: A flat parking rate of $40 to $100 is in effect for non-residents in the Art Deco District. Non-resident towing rates have been set at a minimum of $548.
- Traffic Control: License plate readers are active on the MacArthur and Julia Tuttle causeways. Expect significant traffic delays and security checkpoints at beach entrances along Ocean Drive.
- Prohibitions: Amplified music, alcohol, and smoking are strictly prohibited on all city beaches.
Residential Services and Permit Updates
The City of Miami has launched the "Same Day–No Delay" Walk-Thru Express Review service. This program aims to accelerate residential permitting for home improvement projects, allowing homeowners to receive reviews and permits in a single visit at designated city centers.
Additionally, free VITA Tax Preparation Services are now active at José Marti Park. Eligible residents earning up to $69,000 annually can receive no-cost assistance with electronic tax filing and Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) claims through the duration of the 2026 tax season.
Notice of Commission Meeting Rescheduling
Pursuant to Resolution R-26-0050, the City Commission has combined its previously scheduled March 12 and March 26 meetings. The consolidated meeting will now take place this Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Miami City Hall.
