Taylor Barnard leads Free Practice 2 at 2026 Miami E-Prix after late red flag incident

Barnard sets the pace in Saturday morning’s final practice session
Taylor Barnard posted the fastest time in Free Practice 2 at the 2026 Miami E-Prix, ending the weekend’s final practice session at the Miami International Autodrome on top of the timesheets. Barnard’s best lap was 55.531 seconds during the Saturday, Jan. 31 session that began at 7:30 a.m. local time.
Jean-Éric Vergne finished second in the classification, with Nico Müller third. Pepe Martí was fourth, followed by Norman Nato in fifth. António Félix da Costa placed sixth, ahead of Sébastien Buemi in seventh and Edoardo Mortara in eighth. Felipe Drugovich rounded out the top 10 in ninth, with Lucas di Grassi classified 10th.
Session ends under red flag after late contact
The session concluded under a red flag after an incident involving Lucas di Grassi and Mitch Evans. The contact occurred when di Grassi missed an apex and collided with Evans, bringing running to a halt in the closing phase of practice.
With qualifying scheduled for 9:40 a.m. local time and the race set for 2:05 p.m. local time, the timing of the stoppage meant teams had limited opportunity to conduct additional performance runs or test late setup adjustments.
Notable positions deeper in the order
Several established front-runners ended FP2 outside the top 10. Pascal Wehrlein finished 12th, while Jake Dennis was 14th. Evans, impacted by the late incident, was classified 15th. Oliver Rowland ended 19th after reported balance issues left him spending time in the pits.
