Public Notice: Miami Spring Wellness and Infrastructure Update

Official City Bulletin: Sunday, March 1, 2026
As the month of March begins, the City of Miami and Miami-Dade County have issued several official notices regarding public safety, major infrastructure milestones, and opportunities for community feedback on federal funding allocations. Residents and visitors are encouraged to review these updates to stay informed about local developments and upcoming service changes.
Public Safety and Seasonal Traffic Management
In alignment with the city’s proactive strategy for the spring season, the Miami Beach Police Department and local officials have implemented enhanced security measures effective today. The city's current marketing campaign prioritizes a wellness-focused atmosphere, with the following notices in effect:
- Parking Rate Adjustments: High-impact parking rates have been established for city-owned garages in the Art Deco District. Residents should be aware that flat rates ranging from $40 to $100 will be enforced during upcoming high-volume weekends to manage vehicle density.
- Traffic Enforcement: License plate readers are officially active on the eastbound lanes of the MacArthur and Julia Tuttle causeways. Motorists should anticipate increased DUI enforcement and potential traffic delays on major thoroughfares during evening hours throughout the month.
- Beach Regulations: To ensure a safe environment, the city reminds the public that coolers, glass containers, and tents are prohibited on beaches. Smoking and alcohol consumption remain strictly forbidden in all public beach areas.
Infrastructure: Signature Bridge and I-395 Progress
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) continues to report significant progress on the I-395/SR 836/I-95 Design-Build Project. As of March 1, the following construction notices remain active:
- Upcoming Ramp Openings: Work on the segmental bridges connecting I-95 and SR 836 has reached a critical phase. The new westbound I-395 ramp to southbound I-95 is scheduled to open later this quarter, which is expected to alleviate long-term congestion in the Midtown Interchange.
- Underdeck Development: Ongoing construction of the 33-acre "Underdeck" community space continues beneath the Signature Bridge. Pedestrians are advised of intermittent sidewalk closures near Overtown as crews install new lighting and safety features for the future heritage trail.
Community Feedback and Public Hearings
The City of Miami is currently seeking public input on several multi-year planning documents. Two critical comment periods are active as of today:
- Public Housing Agency Plan: The 45-day public comment period for the Fiscal Year 2026-2027 Annual Plan remains open through March 7, 2026. Residents can review draft documents at the Department of Housing and Community Development.
- HUD Funding Amendments: The Housing and Commercial Loan Committee (HCLC) has opened a public review period for proposed funding amendments to the Annual Action Plan. This comment period will remain open until March 25, 2026.
Health and Environmental Advisories
The Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County continues its weekly water quality monitoring at all public beaches. While all current advisories for the North Shore area have been lifted, routine testing for Enterococcus bacteria is conducted every Monday. Additionally, the city officially recognizes the start of Women's History Month today, with several public health and leadership seminars scheduled to begin this week at various community centers.
